Breeding History

Our breeding started first of all from a dog whose name was Capone and we called him Jeppe.
Jeppe`s breeder was  Pirkko Niemi and she called to us if we wanted to have a dog who must
have another home. It´was 1984 and Jeppe  was 2 years old then. So I thought then that Jeppe
needs  company of other dogs.  It was autum 1984 and I heard that Tuovi Lehtonen  had got back
her  bitch  (later Fin Ch) Diamantine`s Thee Pricket aka Eveliina, later we called her Eve.
She was 7 months when we got this wonderful foundation bitch. Surprisingly she got her period at
the age of 8 months, resulting the first Baskethill`s  puppies 20.01.85 as a shooting accident.
That's how we got our A-puppies.  My parents took a male, Fin Ch Baskethill`s Aleksander "Aleksi"
and we kept a bitch Int & Fin Ch Baskethill`s Appleblossom "Omppu". She was the first Blossom of
them all!!!!!!
 

 Next came B-puppies and Eve`s husband was a Swedish man Whisborne Country Tweed.  Eve
got 2+2 puppies again, all black and whites.  Two of these bitches were  Fin Ch Baskethill`s
Bumble-Bee "Bambi" and  Fin Ch Baskethill`s  Blue-Moon "Ira".

 My mother imported an English man Fin Ch Shearwalk of Shipden "Claudie" for Eve. So 25.5.1990
she got her last  puppies, C-puppies, with Claudie.  There was only one bitch whose name was
Int & Fin Ch, Fin Tr Ch Baskethill`s  Cherry Blossom "Chessan". She was a very important link to us.
And she was a big lady and boss after her mother Eve.

  In that time Eve had a progeny group in Dog Shows. That group with different  combinations was
very successful.  Eve with her progeny got 13 Bis 1 placements and many times they had also other
placements too. She was a very  strong bitch that was visible in her offspring. In that time we showed
our breeding group too and they succeeded very well too.

What has Eve done to our breeding history? I think it was great for us to get that kind of bitch. She was
our foundation bitch who was married three times with Finnish  Jeppe, Swedish Billy and last time with
English Claudie. All dogs were liver-white and black and white Eve still had only black and white puppies.
She was a boss in our kennel and all other dogs respected her.

We mated our co-owning bitch Fin Ch Baskethill`s Bumble-Bee "Bambi" with Fin Ch  Shearwalk of Shipden
"Claudie" and D-puppies were born 11.10.1991. We left one bitch at home and her name was Fin Ch
Baskethill`s Dressy  Dryad "Emma". 

In 1993 we imported with my mother a  dog from Shipden kennel. We thought that it might be suitable for
Chessan. So came our E-puppies 19.2.1994 and there were 6 of them, one bitch went to my friend Tuija
Räsänen  and one stayed with us; Baskethill`s Even So Blossom "Viivi".  Fin Ch  Baskethill`s Emerald Mist
"Sumu-Vilma" was a foundation bitch to Tuija`s Upgate`s kennel. It`s so sad that this wonderful bitch died
of cancer only 4 months after having her puppies. 

 

In 1997 I heard that the famous dog Multi Ch Whisborne Devil In Disquise came to Finland and spent some
time here.  I called to Tarja Hovila  and visited them with Chessan. Unfortunately she got only 3 puppies
03.03.1997. One bitch of   these F-puppies Baskethill`s For A Blossom "Iines" , stayed at home.
But she was too good for us and we lost her at the age of 22 months. 
 

So it`s Baskethill`s Even So Blossom "Viivi" who was next to be a mother in 1999. We travelled to Somero
again  and met Tarja with Multi Ch Adamant`s Superman.  It was really a meeting of  "superman and
superwoman". Viivi got 11 puppies 22.03.1999 of which nine survived. From these G-puppies we have
two bitches at home, Fin Ch  Baskethill`s Golden Blossom "Klaara" and Fin Ch Baskethill`s Gemima Jones
"Kaisla". There are also 3 boys of that combination which I should mention: Fin Ch Baskethill`s Golden
Griffit  "Kevin", Fin Ch Baskethill`s Gerald  Gymro "Kimi" and Baskethill`s Guiding Star "Konsta"  (2 CC)
 who has passed his field trial test.
 

Our H-puppies were Kaisla`s work. We mated her with a Norweigian man Fin Ch Streamside`s Kingfisher.
Puppies were born 30.05.2002 and again we kept two bitches; Int&Fin&Est Ch Baskethill`s Highlandblossom
"Saimi" and Baskethill`s Hot House Henna "Saga" at home. Time will tell what they will get on to.
Some of them have already started their showcareer and with some success, too!
 

It`s 2005 (23.6.05) and Saimi welped 7 I-puppies. We mated her with Swedish gentleman Fin Ch,Fin JW-04
With Touch Holy Moses. And as always we kept a little girl Pihla, Fi Ch Baskethill`s Irish Blossom  with us.
In the future we shall see if she can follow her mother's steps in the field and shows. We sure hope so!
 

Our Jubilee puppies = J-pups (10th litter) born 10.3.08. It was Saimi`s, ( C.I.B & Fi & Est Ch Baskethill`s
Highlandblossom ) last puppies and sir was C.I.B & N & Fi & Est Ch Rindi`s Pablo Picasso, our own boy! We
had been waiting for These puppes sinch Pablo came to Finland and it was really worth  it! These youngsters
have competed all extreamly well and their charters are also very nice with smiling noses. And as always we
kept one certain girl at home: Baskethill`s Jubilee Blossom so call Aurora:) and perhaps she will continue our
Blossom team next!
